My goal is to write to you every other week.
I got my first 60-hour check. My boss signed a letter to child support saying I need my license for work, so I submitted that. I am putting half down on a used car tomorrow and the other half on January 30. Then I can get insurance and registration the first week of February. I am so excited.
The crazy thing is that my friend who takes me to work every day and picks me up four or five days a week AND even my boss said they are kind of sad about me getting a car and not spending as much time with them.
What a great compliment!
So much happens out here. I am trying to think of what I want to tell you. This could go on past the 20,000-character limit.
Trust me.
I work 6:45AM to 5:30PM Monday through Saturday. I have a lot to do now, but it still doesn’t seem much like work.
My boss and I have become really good friends. He even took me to the doctor today. I had to have surgery on my face to get a terribly large cyst removed. He stayed with me and everything. I only needed one stitch.
Oh, and he even took me to see the car I am buying last week.
I still talk to Tesla Guy sometimes. He is in California for a conference for work.
He said he wanted to talk about us and admitted he wanted more, but I told him I didn’t have more to give right now. We did go to lunch before he went out of town though.
I am barely two months out of prison, but honestly, he is the type of person I should probably be looking at long-term. He is stable, trustworthy, has several years clean, a great job, and somehow manages to avoid drama.
I need to find my own way before I start worrying about relationships and titles.
At least that is what I keep telling myself.
I still go to four or five meetings a week.
I am doing step work with my sponsor tomorrow night.
I am the treasurer for the Oxford House I live in and the reentry chair for my chapter. Oxford House is definitely the place to be if you are serious about recovery and looking at transitional housing.
One of the things I look forward to most every week is Saturday with Hayley. We go to church, then dinner, then a meeting. It has become our little routine, and we both look forward to it so much.
Oh, and guess what?
My sponsor and another guy from recovery do a podcast called Rated R for Recovery on Tuesday nights at 6PM. I am going to be the guest speaker on March 10! Crazy, right? I wish I could get it to you guys. Maybe I could talk to the guy who runs it about getting it into prisons. That would be so cool.
Sometimes I still catch myself thinking I am going back to my bunk after all this.
Then I remember I have work in the morning, bills to pay, a podcast to prepare for, and entirely too many men giving me things to overthink.
Life is weird.
But in a good way.
I am so tired.
Long day.
Going to bed.
Love you.
